The release of an ancient demon and the creation of a new intoxicant coincide in this Victorian supernatural thriller.

An elixir has the obvious effect of making its user compliant to the extreme, but unbeknownst to its maker, it also exposes the user’s vital essence—the Ka to the Egyptians, the spirit or soul to Londoners—to the supernatural realm. Likewise, it imparts sight through the veil into the immortal realm, wherein dwell angels and demons.

Ammit, devourer of souls of the damned in ancient Egypt, was banished when she acquired a taste for the delectable pure souls of the innocent. Loosed in Victorian London, her great predatory senses pursue the users of the elixir. But once tracked and cornered, their Ka must be consumed before the sight of her bestial chimeric form frightens them to death and renders their souls indelible.
